It’s tough being The Little Sister. I am the “baby” of five siblings, and although I am staring down the barrel of “The Big 5-0”, in the presence of my elder siblings, I am still often still treated like “the baby”. I had been eagerly anticipating a visit from my eldest sibling, big brother Fred, for months. Fred, also an experienced Real Estate agent for over 30 years, flew in from frigid Boston, expecting the typically balmy Florida weather, swaying palm trees, and a quick dip in the pool upon arrival.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to send our first cold front through most of the East Coast and rather unexpectedly, through Central Florida. It was 44 degrees when I pulled up to the curb at OIA to greet him, in his omnipresent New England Patriots hat and sweatshirt, and he didn’t look happy about it….although he WAS surprised and impressed with his little sister’s new ride! I excitedly told him about the formation of the MazzaMcNelis Orlando Area Luxury Homes team that had been assembled to better serve our Luxury clients. Along with Bob McNelis, a top-producing Realtor and esteemed local Attorney, together we bring solid experience and sterling customer service to every client we have the pleasure to serve. With over $150-million of collective closed inventory, and over 17 years of combined Real estate experience, I am sure I had finally impressed my big brother!
Since the next day was going to be in the 40’s & 50’s, I had to scrap the canoe ride up the Wekiva River and a stop at Wekiva Island for lunch. I had a brilliant idea that I felt would not only occupy some time with big brother Fred, but also show him that his “baby” sister really IS one of the TOP AGENTS in the Orlando area, by taking him on a tour of the TOP 5 Luxury Communities we serve. Obviously, I had to come up with a list of these top 5, which was not easy, because there are so many gorgeous neighborhoods from which to choose.
Here’s what I chose for our tour….and I definitely brought a jacket!
Isleworth is on the top of my list because it has been long-considered one of the premiere communities in the Orlando area. Home to sports figures, local celebrities, community leaders and the uber-stylish, Isleworth is located in the town of Windermere. The first thing you will notice is the stately guard-manned entrance(s), micro-groomed hedges along a protective wall, and exotic landscaping. The second thing you MAY notice is the stringent screening process at the gate, offering some of the tightest security in the area, due to the need for privacy from many of its high-profile residents. With over 600 acres of lush, manicured grounds and a World-Class 18-hole Golf Course, the residents of Isleworth also have direct access to the Butler Chain of Lakes, long-considered one of the most beautiful scenic bodies of water in Central Florida. Isleworth also boasts year-round Children’s Programs, including lessons in Golf, Tennis, Art & more. Homes currently for sale in Isleworth range from $1-16.5 million. If you feel the need to venture outside the gates of this luxe enclave, make sure to do it on Friday nights, as the Town of Windermere has seasonal Farmer’s Markets and Food Truck Events where families gather for great food and fun. If you are looking for Orlando Area Luxury Homes, this is a MUST-SEE!
2. Alaqua Lakes
Conveniently situated just steps from I-4, yet tucked away behind the manned security gate of this idyllic Seminole County treasure, are some of the most impressive homes in the Orlando area. Alaqua Lakes offers its residents the convenience of an easy I-4 commute to Downtown or to Daytona Beach, paired with an extremely private and lush setting, adjacent to the Wekiva River Buffer Conservation Area’s wildlife, flora & fauna. It is not unusual to see deer, bald eagles and other native Floridian wildlife, all while gazing upon the Championship 18-hole Golf Course which runs through the center of this posh community. The children’s programs here in Alaqua Lakes is unparalleled, offering year-round tennis, swimming, family-centered events & more! This community is also zoned for some of Seminole County’s A-rated schools. Within the private security gates of this community, you will also find the individually gated enclave of The Reserve. One of the MazzaMcNelis Team’s active listings is located in this executive section of the subdivision, and is one of the Crown Jewels of Alaqua Lakes, located at 1752 Greystone Court, and custom-built by Dave Brewer. Current active listings in this lovely Lake Mary community range from $600k-3.3-million.
3. Sweetwater Club
Long-considered one of the original luxury estate communities in Seminole County, Sweetwater Club will take you back to a time when Presidents, Kings, Movie Stars and local notables all partied and played here. Behind the manned security gates of this exquisite subdivision, you will find some of the Orlando Area’s finest Luxury Homes, some with enough acreage to have helicopter pads and stables of Clydesdales. Adjacent to the storied Sweetwater Country Club golf course, and just steps from the Wekiva State Park, this is a setting like no other in the Wekiva Springs area. Zoned for impeccable Seminole County schools, this community is convenient to the new 429 Extension, the Florida Turnpike, I-4 and to Disney World & the Attractions. If you are looking for Orlando Area Luxury Homes, you should not miss Sweetwater Club in Longwood, Florida. There are no “cookie cutter” properties here, and you will find executive family residences all the way up to palatial compounds. Current active listings of homes for sale in Sweetwater Club range from $500k-3-million.
Windsong is an exceptional Lakefront community located in exclusive Winter Park and just steps from respected Rollins College. With access and stunning views of Rollins College’s Chapel, Lake Mizell and Lake Virginia, and some properties with direct access to both. This is a one-of-a-kind treasure in the heart of historic Winter Park, and steps from world-famous Park Avenue, our own version of Rodeo Drive, has a very boutique-feel. The residents of Windsong can take advantage of two community pools, water parks, playgrounds, fishing pier, and chain-of-lake access. Most of the executive homes here have a Mediterranean-feel, and many have ample acreage, which is difficult to find in this area. If you are looking for Orlando Area Luxury Homes, with lake access to some of the most gorgeous lakes and a convenient address to Downtown Orlando, THIS IS IT! Until you experience Windsong, you won’t believe that homes this impressive exist within this posh community, with such a desirable location. Current active listings offered for sale in this community range from $800k-7-Million.
5. Lake Nona
In the center of this storied community, is the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, home to one of the most difficult, but impressive Golf Courses, designed by Tom Fazio. With a focus on active, healthy living, it is also the home of Medical City, which has drawn world-wide acclaim, and is still growing in size & reputation. Everything here was built with a focus on outdoor living & sustainability, along with fostering family fun and events. You will find a home here whether you are looking for townhomes, patio homes, executive single-family residences or upscale Estate homes. There are also walking trails, countless parks, including two dog parks, community center and more. When searching for your Orlando Area Luxury Home, be sure to consider a trip out to Lake Nona, where you will begin to live the Florida lifestyle about which you have always dreamed. Current active Estate listings offered for sale in this lovely community range from $700K-4.7-million.
Whew….what a long day! Mercifully, our tour was over! Mission accomplished, as far as I am concerned, as finally, my big brother Fred really WAS impressed! The highlight of my day, however, was not the protective gates of Isleworth, nor the architectural brilliance of Alaqua Lakes, nor the rolling acreage in Sweetwater Club, nor the sparkling lakes of Windsong, nor the golf course excellence of Lake Nona. The pinnacle for me was the knowledge that my brother Fred was proud of me. I will be dropping him back off at the curb of OIA in the morning, and it will be a mild 72 degrees when he takes off. Thank you, Mother Nature, for sending in that brief but glorious cold-front, offering us the excuse to spend some time together in my warm “sweet ride”, talking, reminiscing, laughing and touring some of the Orlando Area Luxury Homes that we on the MazzaMcNelis team are fortunate enough to list & sell every day.
